GRAMMAR 22: QUANTIFIERS, part 2

Hello ladies and gentlemen! How are you this rainy day? Last time we were talking about QUANTIFIERS, but there are a lot of them. That´s why today we´re going to continue talking about them. If you don´t know what a quantifier is, you should keep reading this post.

QUANTIFIERS

Quantifiers are words that we use to quantify things. In this post we´re going to talk about some of them.

ZERO QUANTITY *We use ANY for zero quantity with a negative verb. We use NO with a positive verb.

*We use NONE (without a noun) in short answers.

EXAMPLES:

-There isn´t any room in the house.

-There is no room in the house.

-How much money do you have? None.

.

MORE / LESS THAN YOU NEED OR WANT

*We use TOO + adjective, TOO MUCH + uncountable noun, TOO MANY + plural countable nouns.

*We use ENOUGH before a noun but after an adjective.

EXAMPLES

-I don´t like Madrid. It´s too big.

-There are too many cars and motorbikes.

-There´s too much traffic.

-There aren´t enough libraries.

-The buses aren´t frequent enough.

.

And that´s all for today. Do you have any doubts? If so, leave us a comment. Once more, thanks for visiting our blog!
