SPEAKING 10: FILLERS

Happy Wednesday, everybody! How is it going? How often does your mind go blank when speaking English? What do you do to hide that you´re speechless? What can you do to have time to think the answer? Is there any trick to get over this situation? Yes! You can use fillers. But, what are fillers or filler words? If you don´t know the answer, you must read this post. Go on!

INTRODUCTION

What are fillers or filler words? Fillers are words or sounds which give you time to think without stopping the conversation. Probably you have been using some of them without knowing. They can be an English learner´s best friend. They don´t really add any meaning to the sentence but they are used to fill silence and to speak more fluently.

In this post you will find some useful examples (sounds, words and phrases). Filler words aren´t bad, but remember, don´t use them too much! Virtue lies in the middle.
